These three things are necessary for full oral function.

- What should I expect during LANAP treatment?
During LANAP, you will receive treatment under local anesthesia. Prior to the procedure, a periodontal charting is done and x-rays are taken to make a proper diagnosis and to determine the extent of your periodontal disease. A tiny laser fiber (is inserted between the tooth and the gum. It will clear away any infection or diseases material without cutting the gums. The tooth roots are also thoroughly cleaned of tartar and plaque. The laser also will create a stable blood clot to seal the pocket. One half of your mouth is treated at each session.
- What about patient discomfort and recovery versus traditional gum surgery?
You are much more comfort and can immediately go back to your normal routine after surgery unlike traditional gum surgery.
- Who can perform the LANAP treatment?
Only LANAP-trained dentists can perform LANAP.
- What training do they need to perform it?
All dentists certified to perform LANAP must complete comprehensive, clinical, hands-on, dentist-to-dentist training for a year at the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry (IALD). This in ensures that they are skilled to perform LANAP.
- Can any laser be used with LANAP?
No, only the PerioLase MVP-7 is designed to support the LANAP.
- Will my insurance company cover the LANAP protocol?
Periodontal disease treatment is covered by most insurance carriers if it is deemed medically necessary.
